For growing UK businesses turning over £50k to £2m
Accounting that actually moves your business forward
Tired of an accountant who only shows up at year-end? Salis is your real partner: compliance you can trust, numbers you can actually understand, and hands-on support that helps you grow, not just report.
Grounded in integrity · Driven by excellence · Optimised for growth
The problem
Most accounting feels like a box-ticking exercise, not a relationship.
You hand over your books, get a bill and a set of accounts back, and that's it. The same three frustrations come up again and again:
Accountants who go quiet
Emails unanswered for weeks. A single meeting a year. You're left guessing whether anything's been handled.
Numbers without meaning
Spreadsheets and returns that tell the past, but never tell you what to do next, or where the money's leaking.
No help with growth
You want to scale, hire, invest, but there's no one translating the figures into a plan that actually moves the business forward.
The guide
Meet Daniel, your faithful steward of the numbers.

I'm Daniel Marie, a CIMA-qualified management accountant and the founder of Salis. Before Salis I spent over a decade in corporate finance: as a balance sheet controller at J Sainsbury plc, and as a senior commercial finance analyst and business partner at dunnhumby, where I managed a £20m software budget and built the cost and product profitability models leadership used to make decisions.
I set up Salis because too many business owners are sold compliance when what they really need is a partner: someone who knows their numbers, picks up the phone, and helps them run a better business, not just a more accurate one.
The name "Salis" comes from the Latin for salt: essential, preserving, the small addition that transforms. That's the standard I hold: trustworthy, precise, and quietly improving everything I touch.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
What accounting services does Salis provide for UK businesses?
A full stack of UK accounting services: bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, self-assessment and corporation tax, annual accounts and company formation, plus management accounts, forecasting and board-level Virtual FD support. Everything is delivered digitally, so we work with businesses across England and Wales.
Do you provide accounting for children's care homes?
Yes. Salis Care is our specialist service for children's residential care providers in England and Wales. It covers care-specific bookkeeping, shift and sleep-in payroll, per-placement profitability, cash-flow forecasting and financial viability planning for new homes. See Salis Care.
How does a Virtual FD service work?
You get a qualified finance director on a part-time basis, without the cost of a full-time hire. Typically that means a monthly management pack, a rolling cash-flow forecast, a regular review meeting with the directors, and support with budgets, pricing, funding and investor conversations. The scope and frequency are agreed up front.
Do you offer a fixed monthly accounting fee?
Yes. After a free discovery call you receive a written proposal with a fixed monthly fee based on your transaction volumes, payroll size and the level of support you want. No surprise bills.
Can you help with Ofsted financial viability for a new care home?
Yes. We prepare the multi-year financial forecast, start-up cost and funding plan, and supporting financial information that new providers need when they apply to register. We work alongside your Responsible Individual or registration consultant. Registration decisions are made by Ofsted, so we can't guarantee an outcome, but we can make sure the numbers are clear, realistic and defensible.
Which areas and business sizes do you cover?
We work remotely with businesses across England and Wales, typically owner-managed companies turning over between £50,000 and £2 million, and children's home providers of any size.
How do I switch accountants to Salis?
It's simpler than most people expect. Once you sign the engagement letter, we contact your previous accountant for professional clearance and handover, take over your HMRC agent authorisations and get access to your Xero (or move you onto it). You don't need to wait for your year-end.
Do you offer a free first conversation?
Yes. The first call is free, takes about 30 minutes and comes with no obligation. Book a time that suits you.
